Are there really too many people on our planet?It is clear to all of us that the planet is not expanding. There is only so much space on Earth, not to mention only so many resources – food, water and energy – that can support a human population. The problem not is the number of people if not the behavior of these persons with the Earth. This happens because we consume more than earth produces. Gandhi said: "The world has enough for everyone's need, but not enough for everyone's greed."

The population increases and that increases the damage we cause with our needs. According to United  Nations predictions it could reach 9 billion people by 2050, and over 11 billion by 2100. But even if the population grows to 11 million people, our current level of knowledge does not allow us to assure if such a large population is sustainable, simply because it has never happened before. Rich countries emit emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases. In contrast, poor countries have more inhabitants and emit less greenhouse gases. There are exceptions, such as Copenhagen. In order to maintin a large human population is for rich countries to reduce the pressure on the global climate. Therefore, it is necessary that there be a fundamental change in the core values of developed societies. The large number of inhabitants and their actions cause problems of climate change, the crisis of extinction of biodiversity, massive ocean pollution. They also cause one billion people to die of hunger and another billion are having nutrient deficiencies.
It has been investigated if we could live on another planet, but for now we can only live on Earth.


In my opinion, I think that all countries, especially the most unruly ones, would have to do something to improve all this because it hurts us all. If they did, we would improve the conditions of the Earth.
